Hotel Living Redux - am I going in circles or what?

Since the last part of September I am basically back to hotel living while working in Grottaglie. It is where the Alenia Aermacchi production facility is about 3 1/2 hrs. south of Pomigliano, where I am based. Too far to drive, and since we are working long hours during the week, and on Saturdays, I am not spending my day of rest driving back and forth to home.

Johnnie at home in Mercogliano
Good thing we are married a long time and a solid relationship as these are stressful times living apart. Johnnie has adopted the Mama stray cat in our garage plus her three kittens plus the Papa. I was joking him about how many we are taking back to the US with us? These are very skittish, feral cats and won't let you get very close to them.

Among other weather phenomena we are having lots of rain.
Lots of beauty

The rains in Mercogliano
So, I have a comfortable room in a hotel here and we are adjusting to life in a hotel, again! Johnnie is coming down on the weekends to spend with me and we are "nesting" to be as comfortable as possible.

So this blog is about separations and hotel living, and making it work!

Food
Food is a bit of a problem as it gets really old eating out all the time. It takes a long time, the food in restaurants is a bit rich for 3 meals a day, and, sometimes, you just want to sit in the room and watch TV or read a book and chill out without having to be "social".

We have a little mini refrigerator in our room, and a hot water pot, and with these two items, we can make many things. It sort of feels like college dorm redux!
The things you can get in a mini bar fridge!
In the refrigerator we have cream (for coffee), yogurt, drinks (of course) including Limoncello and beer,  small cream cheeses which I love to eat over crackers, and some sliced meats.

We have purchased plastic forks, knives, spoons, cups, and plates; napkins, and a couple of nice plastic wine glasses (for our Prosecco). We are going first class!

We have instant coffee, cookies, crackers, dry soup mixes, cans of tuna, fruit cups, breakfast cornet, and an assortment of other snack stuff.
Food stuffs and supplies
Laundry
It is a bit strange to have someone doing your laundry, especially your underwear. But, no time to go to a laundromat, or even take out our own dry cleaning, so there you have it. You leave the laundry in a bag in the hotel room and the cleaning lady takes it away and in a day or two it comes back. Now we have a good laundry service here who even irons our socks! Wow! Never had my socks ironed before.

TV/Entertainment
Glad we have Slingbox and Tivo, so we can watch some American TV. The room has Sky TV -- the Italian satellite TV service, and there are some good programs on Sky, however, for daytime TV and odd hours watching, it is great to have our own stuff ready. The only limitation we face is the speed of internet here which tends to be a bit slow, especially on the weekends when lots of people are trying to get on.

Johnnie has become a fan of Duck Dynasty, followed by Swamp People, and Red Green. Do you see a trend here?????

Guests
Probably the biggest limitation to our hotel rooms is not having room for guests to come over without sitting on your bed. There are a couple suites here but I haven't requested one and most of the time don't need it. So, the good thing is there is a lot of public seating areas in the lobby, breakfast room and bar area of the hotel so you can meet up with people there.

When will this end?
Well that is a good question. Not sure, just trying to take it day by day and trusting the Lord to lead me in the way I should go.

Arrivederci for now!
