New Challenges lie ahead

Just when you think life will settle down....

The Job Focus Changes
For the past year my job focus has been working with the engineers in the Pomigliano office (between Napoli and where we live in Mercogliano). Now that our new airplane program is entering into production the focus is now working with supply chain and the production shops in Grottaglie, about 3 1/2 hrs. away (depending on who is driving!). So I have been in Grottaglie most of the last month in a hotel near the production facility. Now my trips home are every 2 - 3 weeks for just a few days and then back agin.

Alenia Aermacchi

What lies ahead for future? I don't know. Many of the expats are actually relocating to the Grottaglie area to finish their assignments. Others just plan to drive back and forth, some are only in Grottaglie for a few months and then back to Pomigliano to finish their assignments and a few are actually returning to the US. So what will happen to me and my team? This is a subject of much debate. All of a sudden, my team is growing and the partner team that we work with is also growing in size, so this is a topic of conversation among the leadership on whether to split the team between two cities, move everyone to Grottaglie or what. Only the Lord knows what will happen, and I am just walking in faith at the moment that whatever is the result will be the Lord holds what is the best for me and for Johnnie.

The key is to view this as another chapter in the adventure, and just enjoy where we are and what we are doing. I feel over and over the lesson that I get with the entire Great Italian Adventure is to let go of stuff (my home, my car, my furniture, my this or that) and learn the beauty of contentment with wherever we are. Is this uncomfortable at times? Absolutely!

Spa Experience at the Relais Histo

This small luxury hotel where I am staying has a wonderful Spa patterned after the ancient Roman baths. Its a little pricey but Boeing gets a 15% discount on all services plus you get a complimentary Relax Spa for every 5 days you stay there.

I enjoyed the Relax Spa experience yesterday followed by a massage. This was heavenly! The Relax Spa includes sauna, steam room, several bubbly water type pools followed by a dip in the outdoor satwater lagoon. I added on a massage for the "full meal deal".

Relai Histo - former monastery in the country
Today I went back and got a pedicure. Later this week I'll get a facial. Little treats like this make my busy workweek bearable. Several other women staying here are going to do the same.
